It was found that the Blue House, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and other government officials from the Ministry of Economy, who are preparing real estate measures, sold a large number of houses last year and became the number one house. “If high-ranking public officials are multi-homed, it is difficult to gain public trust even if they come up with a policy,” and it is interpreted as the influence of the government’s active’one housing movement’.

According to the official gazette released on the 25th, among the government officials of the Ministry of Economy, who are leading real estate measures, 26 people, who were multi-homed people last year, sold their homes to become one-homed or homeless. This is the result of confirming the details of changes in the property of 152 public officials under the Blue House △Prime Minister’s Office △Ministry of Strategy and Finance △Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport △Financial Commission △Financial Supervisory Service △National Tax Service.

First of all, 13 of the 55 people who were subject to property disclosure, including Man-ho Chung, Chief Human Resources Secretary Kim Oe-sook, and Chief Economic Officer Lee Ho-seung, sold their homes last year to avoid the status of multi-homed people. In particular, Lee Ji-soo, the foreign press secretary in the office of the presidential secretary, had three homeowners, but sold two officetels in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul and Cheongju-si, Chungbuk to become one home.

In the Ministry of Science and Technology, Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Science and Technology and 1st Vice Minister Kim Yong-beom became one home from two homes side by side. Deputy Prime Minister Hong, who had difficulties in disposing of houses and securing jeonse due to the’Three Lease Act’ last year, sold an apartment in Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do for 920 million won, and left only the residential-commercial apartment complex in Naseong-dong, Sejong-si. Deputy Minister Kim was a two-homed owner with an apartment in Seocho-gu and a detached house in Seodaemun-gu, but it was revealed that he gave a single-family house to his mother-in-law last year.

In the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which is responsible for real estate measures, eight multi-homed people sold their homes last year. 1st Vice Minister Yoon Seong-won and 2nd Vice Minister Son Myung-soo disposed of the Sejong apartments, leaving only apartments located in Gangnam-gu and Songpa-gu, respectively. Choi Gi-ju, the chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Committee, and Kim Sang-do, the head of the Aviation Policy Office, also disposed of one apartment at a time to become one house.

On the Financial Services Commission, Eun Seong-soo, chairman of the Financial Services Commission, disposed of the Sejong apartment and left an apartment in Seocho-gu. In the case of the National Tax Service, the head of the Seoul Regional Tax Service, Lim Gwang-hyun, disposes of the Mapo-gu officetel and becomes the first homeowner. In the Prime Minister’s office, Gu Yoon-cheol, head of the Office of State Affairs Coordination, reported that the Bundang-gu complex and Gangnam-gu apartment were owned by Seongnam-si, but the Bundang-gu building was being sold.

The reason that high-ranking officials sold houses on such a large scale is interpreted as the result of orders from the Prime Minister’s Office. In July of last year, Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said, “If high-ranking officials have multiple houses, I think it is difficult to gain the people’s trust no matter what policy they come up with.” “Each ministry quickly grasps the status of housing for high-ranking officials, including local governments. And, in the case of multi-homed people, please take action to sell them as soon as possible.
