National Assembly Education Committee’s position revealed

Education Minister Yu Eun-hye said on the 19th that a court decision to cancel the cancellation of the designation of private high schools at Paijae and Sehwa High Schools in Seoul, he said, “It has been decided on the issue of the cancellation procedure.” It was not an illegal judgment on the reorganization of the high school system,” he said.

Minister Yoo attended the general meeting of the National Assembly’s Board of Education and responded to the criticism from Congressman Chan-min Chung, “The cancellation of the designation of self-accident is the result of taking too lightly without sufficient public opinion or expert opinion.”

Earlier, the 14th Administrative Division of the Seoul Administrative Court (Deputy Judge Sang-Hoon Lee) ruled over the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed the day before by Bae Jae-Sehwa High School asking for the cancellation of the designation of its own high school by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. In December of last year, Busan Haeundae High School’s cancellation of designation was canceled.

He said, “There is no reason for the Ministry of Education to disagree with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education’s consent to cancel the designation by evaluating the performance of its operation every 5 years.”

At the same time, “I have thought that the educational policy of promoting and ranking entrance-oriented education should be changed by categorizing schools such as self-accident, foreign high school, and international high school, and by selecting excellent students in these schools first.” Is not abolishing the curriculum, but only changing the way students are selected.”

Regarding the point that the conversion of a special high school to a general high school in 2025 could be a hindrance, he said, “If the high school credit system is implemented in all general high schools in 2025, you can select and listen to special curriculums operated by private high schools or foreign high schools.” .
