A preliminary candidate for the Mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon, called for the resignation of the former president, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Byeon Chang-heum, amid growing suspicions of speculation by some employees of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) in the new cities of Gwangmyeong and Siheung.

On the 6th, the Oh preliminary candidate issued a statement and insisted, “Minister Byeon Chang-heum’s lack of qualities has already been verified since the days of SH (Seoul Housing and Urban Corporation) president.”

He referred to Minister Byeon’s remarks, saying,’I bought it because I thought it would not be possible to develop a new city, but I think it was suddenly designated as a new city.’ He said, “The timing of his tenure as president of LH and the timing of dumping the land of LH employees are exactly the same.” As you can see, Minister Byeon Chang-heum has already lost his position as the person in charge of overseeing serious real estate policies.”

At the time of the personnel hearing of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, despite controversy toward the people living in rental housing as the president of SH Corporation, false accusations against the victims of the Guui Station accident, suspicion of providing preferential treatment to acquaintances, arrears of taxes and seizure of vehicles He added, “I want him to come down on his own now,” he added.

Candidate Oh also said, “If Minister Byeon Chang-heum rejects this, President Moon Jae-in, who praised the’Byeon Chang-heum-pyo policy’ for LH-led housing supply, should be terminated.”

Meanwhile, on the 4th, Minister Byeon expressed his intention of apologizing through a press briefing, but after the briefing, it was revealed to a media reporter that “the LH staff did not know development information in advance and did not benefit from profit” This made more spread.
