On the 23rd, Candidate Se-hoon Oh was elected as a single candidate for conservative opposition in the Seoul Mayor’s by-election after defeating candidate Ahn Cheol-soo.

The Power of the People and the National Assembly announced at the National Assembly on the morning of the 23rd, “As a result of a 100% public opinion poll for the conservative and third zone candidate unification contest, Candidate Oh won over Ahn.” Both parties selected two public opinion polling companies and conducted a survey of 3,200 citizens of Seoul on the 22nd by telephone interview method.

Candidate Oh, a former lawyer, was elected in Gangnam-eul, Seoul as a member of the Grand National Party, the predecessor of the people’s power, in the 16th general election in 2000 and entered politics. Although he was elected in the 2006 and 2010 mayoral elections in Seoul, he resigned himself after taking the mayor’s position in the 2011 free meal referendum vote as the mayor of Seoul re-election.

In the 20th general elections in 2016 and the 21st general elections in 2020, they were defeated one after another, and in 2019, they lost in the Free Korea Party representative contest. Candidate Oh challenged the mayor of Seoul again and was elected as a candidate in the party race this month, overtaking former lawmakers Na Gyeong-won, former lawmakers Shin Hwan, and Seocho-gu mayor Cho Eun-hee.

Candidate Oh, who stands tall as the representative of the pan-conservative camp, faces Democratic Party candidate Park Young-sun in the final. Candidate Oh and Candidate Ahn promised to operate the Joint Election Countermeasure Committee before unification, so after the 25th of the official election campaign, Candidate Ahn is expected to support Oh’s predecessor chairman.
