Se-Hoon Oh and Chul-Soo Ahn’Complete the unification before registration of candidates’

3+3 working-level team formed and negotiated

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and National Assembly candidate Ahn Chul-soo agreed to complete the unification of opposition before the registration period for candidates for the Seoul Mayor’s by-election on the 18th and 19th. The two candidates emphasized, “Let’s lead non-party candidates to lead the unity.”

According to political circles on the 8th, Candidate Oh and Candidate Ahn shared this idea of unification through a’beer meeting’ in Seoul on the 7th. This was the first time that the two met separately.

Candidate Oh appeared on a radio broadcast that day and said, “We talked for quite a long time yesterday. “In the unification negotiations, we exchanged words about whether we should use the phrase like this or that, but it is very complicated, but we should not play the role of opening up a big question.” This is read as a willingness to minimize noise in the unification process by conceding what the two candidates will make concessions in accordance with the big picture in the big frame, rather than meeting the organizations of each party to negotiate practical work. Candidate Ahn also met with reporters at the National Assembly, saying, “Let’s not show a tumultuous situation with (Candidate Oh), and if various stories do not agree well, let’s not leave it to the party, but let the candidates come forward and unravel these stories. “We had a consensus with each other.”

The two candidates once agreed to unify before the candidate registration period. Candidate Oh said, “Of course, it was agreed that the deadline should be done before the candidate registration period.” On the same day, Candidate Ahn also said, “If the working team is not in operation from today, registration of a single candidate may be virtually impossible on the candidate registration date. We talked,” he emphasized.

Accordingly, the two sides selected three members from the party and the camp each and entered into full-scale negotiations for unification. The negotiating team must negotiate detailed matters, from the polling method to the questionnaire, the number of TV debates, and whether the two candidates will stand up or sit down. Given that the registration period for candidates begins on the 18th, disagreements must be narrowed until this weekend at the latest. That way, we can proceed with the polls next week and even draw the results.
