The 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Northern District Law (President Judge Ma Seong-young) sentenced a former Yonghwa Girls’ High School teacher, A (57), to 1 year and 6 months in prison for violating the law on sexual protection of children and juveniles (forced harassment). And was arrested in court.
Mr. A was handed over to trial on charges of forcibly touching and molesting the body of five disciples in the classrooms of the school and in the living guidance office from March 2011 to September 2012.
The victims stated at the investigative agency that Mr. A touched the waist, thighs, and genitals with his hands and his underwear. Mr. A denied the charges, saying that he did not remember the trial and that even if there was such physical contact, there was no intention of harassment.
The judge said, “The statements of the victims are consistent in the essential part and the description of the situation is specific. The date and time of the crime are somewhat unclear, but it is difficult to expect to state all the circumstances at the time from the position of the sudden crime a long time ago.” “The reason the victims didn’t show displeasure at the time was because they were young and the defendant was the homeroom teacher, so I think it was that way,” he said. This incident was made known as Yonghwa Girls’ High School graduates formed the’Yonghwa Girls’ High School Sexual Violence Eradication Committee’ in March 2018 and exposed the suspicion of sexual violence from teachers through social media.
