The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that a Richter scale 6 earthquake occurred at 1:22 pm on the 7th in the vicinity of 2km around Magsaysay in Mindanao, Philippines in Southeast Asia. The epicenter depth as determined by the USGS is 24.6 km.
Reuters reported this news, citing the announcement of the German Geological Research Institute (GFZ). The earthquake scale determined by GFZ is 6 and the epicenter depth is 10 km.
Mindanao is an island about 700 km away from the capital, Manila, and about 22 million people, about a fifth of the 110 million people in the population, reside. The human damage caused by the earthquake has not yet been confirmed.
The Philippines is a part of the Pacific Rim midwifery, the’ring of fire’ from Japan to Southeast Asia, and is suffering frequent earthquake damage.
