In connection with the fact that the law depriving the license of doctors sentenced to more than a’safe’ sentence passed the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee, the Korean Medical Association is strongly opposing it, such as taking out a strike card. I would like to ask if I agree with the opinion of the medical council chairman Choi, who supported the president, on the revision of the medical law, or if I agree with the opinions of many common-sense doctors,” said Ahn Cheol-soo, head of the National Assembly.

Preliminary candidate Woo wrote in his Facebook post on the 22nd, saying, “I want to ask Candidate Ahn Chul-soo, a former doctor whose remarks begin every day when the sun rises, only criticizing the government.”

At the same time, the prospective candidate Woo mentioned the reform of the prosecution first, and said, “It is a matter of correcting the special treatment of doctors, which is another vested interest,” and said, “The qualification restrictions applied to both lawyers and accountants were not applied to doctors. “I pointed out the situation.

Preliminary candidate Woo emphasized, “I believe that despite the opposition by Chairman Choi, who endlessly supported former President Park, will agree with the majority of common-sense doctors.”

Earlier, on the 19th, the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee decided on an amendment to the medical law that could revoke the licenses of doctors sentenced to prisoners or higher for committing violent crimes such as murder, robbery, and sexual assault.

However, if a person commits a crime of negligence or injuries during his/her medical practice, he/she is not subject to revoke of his/her license even if he/she is punished by the imprisonment. The bill also made it possible to revoke a license if it was issued in a fraudulent way.

In response, the medical association took out a strike card again. Chairman of the Medical Association, Choi, strongly rebelled, saying that cooperation in the vaccine could be completely stopped.

Chairman Choi said in his remarks, “The bill to revoke the licenses of doctors sentenced to more than a safe has been issued by the National Assembly Legislative Law on the 21st, before the’second meeting of the Joint Committee on Corona 19 Vaccination’ at the Korea Health Promotion Development Institute, If the committee decides, the cooperation system related to COVID-19 treatment and vaccination will all collapse.”

On the 20th, the chairman of the 16 provincial and provincial medical associations of the Korean Medical Association made a statement against the amendment to the medical law on the 20th, saying, “It is absolutely unacceptable.”

Regarding this, the Korea Medical Association said, “If this bill is passed, we will start a full-scale struggle, such as a general strike by doctors across the country.”

The Korea Medical Association explained that the reason for opposing the amendment was that “the medical profession is indiscriminately deprived of the freedom of job performance in addition to the punishment according to the court judgment, resulting in the same consequences as aggravated punishment.”

It is a position that even if a medical practitioner dies due to negligence while driving and is sentenced to imprisonment and probation, he will not be able to conduct medical treatment for many years.
