On the 7th, Democratic Party lawmaker Woo Sang-ho and former Open Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Bong-ju agreed to unify the candidates on the premise of consolidating the two parties.
The two met at the National Assembly Hall of Congress on the same day and issued an agreement, saying, “With the recognition that the two parties have one root, we agree on the spirit of unity and strive to achieve it.” .
He added, “I agree with the principle of promoting the unification procedure through the decision of the party leadership and voting for all members in accordance with the Party Constitution and Party Rules of both parties,” he said. “I agree to promote the integration of the Democratic Party and the Open Democratic Party before the election, but declare the unification when difficult.” Added.
However, the resolutions of Rep. Woo and Jeon Jeong are not related to the thoughts of the party leadership. This unification agreement will only take effect when Rep. Woo wins the party contest with former Minister of Small and Medium Venture Business Park Young-sun and becomes the final candidate of the Democratic Party.
Regarding the background of the unification, “the opposition parties are pursuing the unification of political and engineering candidates, but if it is successful, we cannot guarantee the victory of our party.” It must be promoted.”
When asked if he would propose a single candidate to former Minister Park, Congressman Chung said, “If the former Minister Park is contacted, there is no reason not to meet him.”
Rep. Woo also agreed to unify the candidates on the 12th of last month with the Open Democratic Party member Kim Jin-ae, who declared a run for the mayor of Seoul.
