Saudi sanctions eventually’compromise with reality’

The US government has released a report stating that the assassination of Saudi Arabia’s leading journalist Jamal Kashqji was approved by Prince Muhammad bin Salman.
On the 27th (local time), according to CNN and others, the US National Intelligence Agency (DNI) released a report on the previous day stating that “Prince Muhammad approves an operation to arrest or murder Saudi journalist Kashqji in Istanbul, Turkey.” The assessment was attributed to the Crown Prince’s use of violent means to silence foreign dissidents, including Kashukji. For this reason, US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln has imposed visa restrictions on 76 Saudi citizens who are believed to have threatened foreign dissidents, including the assassination of Kashqji.
However, the crown prince, who was evaluated as the Saudi real power and approved the assassination, is not subject to sanctions, causing controversy. CNN cited executive officials saying that sanctions on the crown were not considered because it was too complex and could harm the military interests of the US military in Saudi Arabia. He said he was in power and had compromised with the reality that Saudi Arabia was an alliance in the Middle East.
This is also contrary to President Biden’s steps as a presidential candidate. In November 2019, candidate Biden said, “Kashukji was murdered and (the body) was damaged, but I believe that there was an order from the Crown Prince.” “The man who was abandoned by making them pay the price without selling weapons anymore (pariah) I will make it.” The Washington Post (WP) reported that some Democrats, as well as human rights groups, are demanding sanctions from President Biden for the crown prince.
As if concerned about such criticism, President Biden left room for an announcement on the relationship with Saudi Arabia on the 29th when asked if there would be sanctions against the crown prince. However, CNBC cited a White House official saying that the announcement on the 29th will not be new, but will be at the level of additional detail on the actions taken by the State Department.
