It seems that Samsung Electronics is giving more power to low-end smartphones. Huawei’s smartphone business is becoming difficult due to US sanctions, and LG Electronics is planning to expand its domestic and foreign market share by capturing the vacancy as LG Electronics is fully reviewing the smartphone business.

On the 12th, Samsung Electronics released popular smartphones’Galaxy A32′ and’Galaxy A42′.

‘Galaxy A52′ and’Galaxy A72′ are also scheduled to be released in the first half of the year. Samsung Electronics also released the’Galaxy A12’ in February. In the first half alone, five types of Galaxy A series products are being released.

In particular, Samsung Electronics is releasing a large number of low-end 5G smartphones this year. The 5G smartphone market began to grow in earnest when Apple released its first 5G smartphone’iPhone 12′ last year. In this market, Samsung Electronics plans to lead the market expansion by introducing 5G phones to low-end phones in addition to flagships.

The’Galaxy A42′ released in Korea on this day is a 5G model, and is the first 5G entry-level smartphone that Samsung Electronics will release this year. The Galaxy A42 features a 6.6-inch large-screen 5,000mAh battery and a rear quad camera to provide premium performance.

The rear quad camera consists of a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel depth camera, and a 5-megapixel close-up camera. It provides 128GB of internal memory in 4GB of RAM, and it can be expanded up to 1TB with a microSD slot and supports 15W high-speed charging. The price is 449,000 won.

Samsung Electronics is expected to launch the’Galaxy A52′ and’Galaxy A72′ in Korea in the first half of the year. Both products are expected to be released as 5G models in Korea. The previous films’Galaxy A51′ and’Galaxy A71 (domestic name: Galaxy A Quantum)’ were also released as 5G products last year.

Samsung Electronics also launched an LTE smartphone’Galaxy A32′ on this day. Samsung Electronics also launched an LTE smartphone’Galaxy A12′ last month, which means that it is introducing another Galaxy A series LTE phone in one month.

The Galaxy A32 is equipped with a 5,000mAh large-capacity battery on a 6.4-inch screen and supports a 90Hz refresh rate. On the back, it was equipped with a 64 million-pixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a 5 million-pixel depth/close-up camera.

It supports Samsung Pay, on-screen fingerprint recognition, and 15W fast charging. It is equipped with 64GB of internal memory in 4GB of RAM, and can be expanded up to 1TB through microSD slot. The price is 374,000 won.

Samsung Electronics’s’Galaxy A’series volume offensive is interpreted as trying to increase its domestic and overseas market share by targeting Huawei’s vacancy overseas and targeting LG phone users who have nowhere to go in Korea.

Samsung Electronics took the second place in the market share behind Apple in the fourth quarter of last year. Last year, it maintained the No. 1 position in the global smartphone market, but the market share did not exceed 20% in 10 years.

In this situation, the gap between Huawei and LG Electronics is a golden opportunity for Samsung Electronics. Huawei has left only its flagship lineup as semiconductor supply and demand has become difficult due to US sanctions since September of last year, and it sold’Honor’, a mid- to low-end phone brand. Huawei’s market share continues to decline after US sanctions. In the fourth quarter, its market share shrank to 9.5% (5th place).

In the first quarter of this year, it is expected to be pushed to the 6th place in the market share, following Oppo and Xiaomi in China, followed by Vivo.

LG Electronics announced in January that it will review the smartphone business, which has been in the red for 23 consecutive quarters. Since then, LG Electronics has only released W41 in India, and has not released any new products in Korea. The release of the rollable phone’LG Rollable’, which was unveiled at CES2021 in January, and the’Rainbow’, which was known to be a strategic smartphone in the first half of the year, is also uncertain.

Last year, Samsung Electronics took up 65% of the domestic smartphone market. Apple accounted for 21% and LG Electronics at 13%. In the first half of this year, amid the gap in LG phones, it is predicted that Samsung Electronics can further increase its domestic market share through the sale of low-end smartphones.

For Samsung Electronics, the’Galaxy A’series, an entry-level smartphone line, is a mass product line that leads sales. Last year, the most popular smartphone in the world was the’Galaxy A31′, which is not a flagship, but a popular type. Although the flagship smartphone is much more attention-grabbing, the product line that sells the most is not the expensive flagship, but the low-end’Galaxy A’.

Accordingly, Samsung Electronics is holding’Galaxy A’unpack for the first time this year. It is to expand the unpack, which has been only in the flagship product line, to the low-end type. Last year, the Galaxy 20 Fan Edition (FE) was held as an online unpack, but this is the first time in the Galaxy A series.
