Samsung Electronics and Apple are reinforcing offline-based customer marketing in Korea despite the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19). The two companies are facing new opportunities as LG Electronics, which occupied the 10% share in the domestic smartphone market, has been omitted. The goal of both companies is to maximize their market share through customer-friendly marketing in Korea, where the 5G mobile communication (5G) smartphone market has a great potential.

Samsung Electronics (005930)Announced on the 2nd that it will expand the self-experience marketing’Galaxy To Go Service’ so that more customers can experience the foldable smartphone’Galaxy Z Fold 2’and’Galaxy Z Flip 5G’ launched last year. An official from Samsung Electronics explained, “We have expanded the scope of application of the Galaxy Submission by reflecting the diverse demands of customers who want to experience the functions of Samsung foldable smartphones in their daily lives.”

Those wishing to use the post service can visit Samsung Digital Plazas in 63 major nations and Galaxy Studios in the Crown Plaza at Lotte Avenuel in Jamsil, Seoul. You can apply until March 14th for Galaxy Studio and April 30th for Digital Plaza. Users can experience features that were only available in the’Galaxy S21′ series, such as’Erase Objects (AI Eraser)’ of One UI 3.1, which was updated from the 18th of last month through Samsung foldable phones.

Earlier, while Samsung Electronics launched the Galaxy S21 series in January, it offered the Galaxy To Go service and rented the Galaxy S21 for free for up to three days. Although the number of Galaxy To Go services increased about three times compared to the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 last year, the quantity was exhausted at most stores across the country on the same day. This customer experience marketing was also linked to actual sales effects. According to Samsung Electronics, the initial sales volume of the Galaxy S21 series is about 30% higher than the previous Galaxy S20 series.

Samsung Electronics’ recent actions can also be interpreted as a response to Apple’s aggressive marketing. Apple is striving to target the Korean market by releasing the first 5G phone model, the iPhone 12, at the end of last year. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple recorded a 20% share in the domestic smartphone market last year, an increase of 2 percentage points over the previous year.

He said on his Twitter on the 28th of last month, “I am happy to meet Korean customers at Apple’s Yeouido, the second Apple store in Seoul.” Following the Yeouido store, Apple is expected to open 3-4 Apple stores in Myeong-dong, Seoul and Haeundae in Busan sooner or later.

An official from the telecommunications industry said, “Samsung and Apple are competing to occupy the Huawei void overseas, but in the domestic smartphone market, as LG Electronics’ pie was large, the competition to occupy it is expected to be fierce.”

The competition between Samsung Electronics and Apple is fierce overseas. Samsung Electronics opened the’Galaxy Showcase’ in Japan, where the iPhone’s influence is absolute in 2019. The Galaxy Showcase is a place where you can experience and purchase Galaxy smartphones and receive repair services, and is a space operated under a similar concept to the Apple Store.

‘Galaxy Harajuku’ in Tokyo is the largest of the world’s showcases. With such efforts to strengthen the Galaxy brand, Samsung Electronics surpassed 10% of the market share for the first time since 2013 in Japan last year. Apple’s share in Japan is 46.5%.

Samsung Electronics is currently operating Galaxy Showcases in the US, India, and France, including Japan. When the Corona 19 incident subsides, it is expected that the Galaxy Showcase will be further expanded and operated in countries around the world.

According to CNBC, Apple has reopened 270 Apple stores in the U.S., which are currently closed after Corona 19. Apple is also expanding its Apple Store this year to the world, including Mumbai, India. India is the second-largest smartphone market in the world after China, with Samsung Electronics and Xiaomi vying for first or second place.
