Samsung Electronics is reinforcing mid- to low-priced lines by planning an unpack event for the first time on the Galaxy A smartphone and enhancing the performance of new products. It is an aspiration to check Xiaomi and Apple, which are coming up after hitting the Huawei gap, and to improve global market share and profitability.

According to the industry on the 11th, Samsung Electronics is expected to unveil the Galaxy A52 and A72 through the’Samsung Galaxy Awesome Unpack’ online event on the 17th. This is the first time since its establishment that a separate event has been planned for mid- to low-priced smartphones other than flagship models such as Galaxy S and Foldable Phone Z.
According to the leaked video released by the recent IT YouTuber’Moboaesthetics’, the Galaxy A52 5G (6.5-inch screen) and A72 (6.7-inch) are equipped with unprecedented performance that was not seen in the existing Galaxy A series. △OIS (optical image stabilization), which was applied only to expensive smartphones, △high refresh rate hall (front camera hole) display, △IP67 waterproof and dustproof function △fingerprint recognition, etc. Here, the A72 is known to be the first in the series to have a 30x’space zoom’ function.
The package also includes a 25W fast charging power adapter, which was excluded from the Galaxy S21 series components, and the price is expected to be around 500,000 won, similar to the previous one (572,000 won).

In fact, it is the Galaxy A, not the Galaxy S, that has solidified Samsung Electronics’ mobile business (IM) sales. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, the Galaxy A31 was counted as the most sold smartphone in Korea, with sales of more than 1 million units last year.
The same goes for overseas markets. According to a survey by market research firm Omdia, Samsung Electronics’ smartphone that sold the most in the world last year was the Galaxy A51 (23.2 million units). If the Galaxy A sales volume falls, Samsung Electronics’ profitability also deteriorates.
Samsung Electronics’ recent’A offensive’ is interpreted as a way to check manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Apple, which are aggressive in cost performance in the wake of Huawei’s vacuum. Both companies are threatening Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy A with the popular phones’iPhone SE’ and’Hongmi Note 9’series.
The iPhone SE recorded a total sales of 2020 million units last year, ranking second in world sales after the No. 1 iPhone 11. The Hongmi Note 9 Pro also sold 15 million units, reaching 9th in global sales and entering the top 10 in the global market for the first time. Xiaomi’s mid-to-low-end phones beat Apple’s’iPhone 12 mini’ (14.5 million units)
According to the previous survey, Samsung Electronics managed to beat Apple with 15% with 19% of the world’s smartphone market last year, but faced a situation where its market share fell below 20% after 10 years. On the other hand, in the fourth quarter of last year, Apple increased its market share to 21% and Xiaomi increased its market share to 11%.
In a recent report, counterpoint research researcher Lee Yun-jung said, “The A-series role played a big role in Samsung Electronics’ performance despite various adverse conditions last year. We can expect meaningful results this year.”
A Samsung Electronics official said, “If consumers who use the A-series receive a positive impression, there is a connection effect to purchase a Samsung smartphone when their purchasing power increases.” I will try to do it.”
