Samsung Electronics Launches Smart Order & Payment Solution’Samsung Kiosk’-Samsung Newsroom Korea

Samsung Electronics is introducing a smart ordering solution’Samsung Kiosk’ that allows both non-face-to-face ordering and payment to be introduced in the domestic market before global launch in the first half of this year.

Samsung Kiosk is an all-in-one product that enables you to select products, order, and pay at restaurants, cafes, pharmacies, convenience stores, and marts.

Based on high-performance SoC (System-on-Chip), it is a product that enables content management and payment without a separate PC. It is necessary for kiosks such as card reader, receipt printer, QR/barcode scanner, NFC (Near Field Communication), and Wi-Fi. All essential functions were installed.
※ NFC function is optional

A 24-inch touch display is applied to the luxurious’Gray White’ color, and it is released in a total of three types: table type, stand type, and wall-mounted type, so it can be used in various store environments.

In particular, the table type can be installed on the counter or table in the store without any additional construction, so cost savings and efficient space utilization are possible.

The stand type can be installed anywhere in the store by applying a detachable floor stand and harmonizes with the existing interior.

The touch screen used in the Samsung kiosk has improved hygiene by applying a special coating that has an antibacterial effect of 99.99% or more on the surface.
※ According to the international standard JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Z 2801 test method, it has been verified to inhibit the growth of E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus by 99.99%, and obtained antibacterial certification from UL, a safety standard organization in the United States. UL grants antibacterial certification (based on UL2282) when the antibacterial activity is over 99%
※ After inoculating 0.4cc of liquid bacteria on the specimen (5cm x 5cm) at the FITI Research Institute, attaching a sterile film (4cm x 4cm) to it, and leaving it in a thermo-hygrostat with a temperature of 35°C and 90% relative humidity for 24 hours Measure the degree of death
※ This is not an antiviral certification, and the antibacterial effect may vary depending on the conditions of use.

Samsung’s antimicrobial coating technology passed the human toxicity assessment test by the U.S. safety standards organization Underwriters Laboratories (UL) using Zinc Pyrithione (ZnP), a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved substance that can also be used in food packaging materials.

The antibacterial technology applied to Samsung kiosks satisfies both antibacterial power and clear image quality by supporting a high transmittance of 90% or more without being easily discolored by oxygen or sulfur components, unlike films using copper or silver commonly used in the market.

Samsung kiosks are equipped with Tizen, a Linux-based open source operating system, to provide wide compatibility, and support web standard technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS), making it easy for developers to develop various software applications that can be used for kiosks. .

In addition, Samsung Knox, a multi-layered security solution, is applied to securely protect hardware, payment platforms, and applications from external threats such as hacking.

Samsung kiosk managers can manage kiosks installed in stores nationwide in real time through the Magic Info Remote Management function, and when a problem occurs, it can identify symptoms and take necessary measures through remote control, enabling efficient store operation.

“Samsung kiosk is a non-face-to-face order payment solution optimized for the recent trend that places importance on hygiene and safety,” said Ha Hye-seung, executive director of Samsung Electronics’ video display division.

Samsung Electronics is selling Samsung kiosks through a partnership with Fiserv, the world’s number one payment and financial service solution provider.

In the Korean market, FiServ Korea (https://www.fiservkorea.com) supplies products through its sales channels, and also provides a rental service that is rented on a monthly basis.

Samsung Electronics plans to expand its sales to overseas markets such as Asia and Australia in the first half of the year.
