Samsung Electronics and the employee council finally agreed on a wage increase plan. This is an average increase of 7.5% this year. This is the highest increase in the last 10 years.
According to Samsung Electronics on the 26th, the previous day, the management and the employee council agreed on a total wage increase of 7.5% this year, including the basic increase rate of 4.5% and the performance increase rate of 3.0%. Samsung Electronics explained that although the rate of increase in detail varies depending on the individual’s performance and the level of annual salary, the average of 11% of employees at the employee deputy level (CL 1~2) increased. In the case of a college graduate’s starting job, it is 3.5 million won from 44.5 million won to 48 million won. Welfare points paid to all employees have also increased from 700,000 won last year to 1 million won this year.
Recently, as news of an unprecedented salary increase centered on Pangyo IT companies, Samsung Electronics, which was treated as the best in the industry, also voiced complaints about the compensation system.

Since last month, the Samsung Electronics Labor-Management Council has held meetings several times over plans to raise the level of 2.5% for the management and 6% for the labor force, but it has not found a point of consensus. Normally, Samsung Electronics concluded wage negotiations at the end of February to early March every year and applied a plan to increase salary from March, but this year was delayed.
Samsung Electronics recently decided to raise its annual salary to a level similar to that of 2013, which was the highest in the last 10 years, considering the fact that it achieved high management performance, such as the highest sales and operating profit of 36 trillion won last year, even under such an industrial atmosphere and Corona 19 situation. did.
An official from Samsung Electronics explained, “We adjusted to maintain a wage competitiveness that is 1.2 to 1.4 times higher than that of major companies.”
Meanwhile, LG Electronics also confirmed the wage increase rate this year to 9%, the highest since 2000, reflecting the performance of last year.
