Previously, in 2019, Samsung Electro-Mechanics developed a folded camera module that secured a focal length by refracting light in the form of a periscope, and succeeded in implementing a 5x optical zoom without a’katuktu’. However, even if the folded method is applied, if the optical zoom magnification is enlarged, the length of the camera module increases and the space efficiency in the smartphone decreases. To solve this problem, Samsung Electro-Mechanics introduced a new product by applying a dual folded camera module in a way that refracts light twice. When implementing the optical 10x zoom in a general way, the thickness of the smartphone is at least 3 times thicker than the current product, but it is a camera module that solves this.

This lens is difficult to manufacture because it is difficult to adjust the flatness that affects the light transmittance. In particular, this new product minimizes the loss that may occur in the process of refraction of light with a low-loss surface coating technology, and by applying a high-sensitivity sensor ball guide actuator, it is possible to obtain a clear picture with precise image stabilization even at a long lens operating distance.
