Samsung Display announced on the 3rd that it will release more than 10 types of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels for notebooks this year. It is more than twice as many as five of last year. Samsung Display expects notebook OLED sales to increase more than five times year-on-year due to the continued Corona 19.

Samsung Display introduced a new laptop OLED with UHD (3840×2160) resolution in 2019, QHD (2560×1440) and FHD (1920×1080) resolution last year. According to the Samsung Display Newsroom, the company launched 5 types of notebook OLED products last year. Laser’s 13.3-inch Blade Stealth 13 (1920×1080), HP’s 13.5-inch Specter X360 14 (3000×2000), ASUS 13.3-inch Zenbook Flip S Ux371EA (3840×2160), Lenovo’s 13.3-inch ThinkPad X13 Yoga (3840×2160), Dell Samsung Display’s 15.6-inch G7 15 gaming laptop (3840×2160) has applied Samsung Display’s OLED.

Samsung Display is planning to launch more than 10 product lines this year by diversifying screen sizes and detailed specifications from the existing 13.3-inch to 16-inch. Samsung Display first introduced a 13.3-inch FHD product (Laser Blade Stealth 13) at the end of last year. From next month, it will start producing the same FHD resolution 15.6-inch model. The company explained, “We will target the notebook market’volume zone’ with popular products.”

Samsung Display predicts that notebook OLED sales will increase more than 5 times from the previous year due to the increase in demand for non-face-to-face and high-end specifications following the continuation of Corona 19 this year. The company plans to expand the OLED notebook market by increasing customers this year.

Samsung Display entered the premium notebook market by successfully developing the world’s first UHD resolution notebook OLED in 2019. OLED has a simpler structure than a liquid crystal display (LCD), so it is easy to implement a thin bezel and various designs. The panel is also thin and light, so it is suitable for laptops, smartphones, and tablets. A wide color gamut that meets 100% (LCD 74%) of DCI-P3 (digital cinema color standard), image quality (contrast ratio of 1 million units 1 or more) that expresses up to 0.0005 nits or less deep darkness, and response speed more than 10 times faster than LCD It is a feature.

Seong-cheol Kim, president of Samsung Display’s small and medium-sized display division, said, “The demand for working from home, online classes, and gaming has soared due to the Corona 19, which invigorates the IT market such as laptops.” As we dominated, we will expand our market share by providing innovative consumer value in the notebook market as well.”
