OLED expresses color using organic light-emitting materials that emit light when current flows without a separate light source. For this reason, the efficiency of organic materials greatly affects the power consumption, high brightness, and outdoor visibility of the display.
The organic material newly developed by Samsung Display significantly increased the luminous efficiency by improving the speed of electron movement faster and easier in the organic material layer.
The company expected that it could help improve smartphone usage time in the 5G era, where video viewing is increasing, as it can emit brighter light with less energy than before.
Samsung Display, the world’s largest OLED manufacturer, has been concentrating on enhancing material technology by cooperating with global material companies for the past 10 years and expanding professional manpower in order to secure super-divided competitiveness in the field of organic material technology.
In particular, it has applied for more than 370 OLED organic material-related patents annually in Korea, the United States, China, Japan, and Europe over the past three years, and it is revealed that it has accumulated 5,000 related patents as of last year.
