As entertainment establishments in Gwangju are protesting against the extension of the second stage of COVID-19 social distancing and are conducting a lighting demonstration, opinions are divided over whether or not to enforce sales.

According to the Gwangju branch of the Korea Entertainment Food Federation on the 19th, a marathon meeting was held from 8 pm to 10 pm on the previous day on the business enforcement of Gwangju City, Gwangsan-gu and business owners.

At this event, Gwangju City Welfare and Health Bureau Director Park Hyang, Gwangsan-gu officials, and 40 high-tech entertainment business owners participated.

The business owners conveyed to the city that it is unfair to maintain the administrative order prohibiting gatherings because the business method is the same as that of a general karaoke room and singing practice center.

Hwang Mo (55, female), who has been running an entertainment business in the high-tech district for six years, said, “The business itself has been banned from December 28 of last year, and the business owners have been driven to the edge of the cliff.” There are also a number of business owners who are worried about closing their business because they can’t. It is necessary to subdivide and ease the quarantine regulations by industry.”

Director Park Hyang said, “In Gwangju, there was a confirmed case of an entertainment business, so the period of not doing business is longer than that of other area entertainment facilities.” “I will try to ease the rules.”

Accordingly, the Gwangju branch of the Korea Federation of Entertainment Foods officially announced that’business enforcement in violation of the quarantine regulations will be temporarily withdrawn’.

However, most of the business owners who were unable to close the gap between the city and the city announced a full-scale operation.

It is a situation in which 90 of the 96 businesses affiliated with the Hi-tech District Entertainment Association have delivered their intentions to the Gwangju branch that they will conduct business following the lighting demonstration.

“It is not the unified opinion of the business owners that they will withdraw the sales force,” said Song Mo (60, female), the owner of an entertainment business. “Resume business regardless of the imposition of a fine. “I plan to resume it.”

Previously, the entertainment establishments belonging to the Gwangju branch of the Korean Federation of Entertainment Foods opposed the government’s quarantine rules to cover the business type, and conducted a collective action by turning on the signboards but not being open from the 5th of this month.

The day before, as the second stage of social distancing was decided to be extended by two more weeks, the owners of entertainment establishments in Gwangju announced that they would resume business even with a penalty of 3 million won.
