[아시아경제 박병희 기자] “Affirmed President Vladimir Putin’s fears.”

This is a commentary left by Navalni to the Social Network Service (SNS) regarding the confiscation of the home and office of the opposition leader Alexey Navalni by Moscow police on the 27th (local time).

On the same day, Moscow police seized and searched Navalni’s apartment and office on Ljublinskaya Street in the Mariino district southeast of Moscow without notice. According to Navalni, the police masked and seized Navalni’s apartment. Navalni’s wife Yuria Navalni, who was in the apartment, said the police had blocked her lawyer from entering the apartment.

Police also seized Navalni’s anti-corruption foundation office and the studio where Navalni had broadcast online. Police arrested Navalni’s younger brother Oleg Navalni. Oleg Navalni was released in 2018 after serving three and a half years in prison after being convicted of embezzlement.

Alexey Navalni, a political opponent of Putin, was arrested and imprisoned as soon as he returned home on the 17th after being treated in Germany after suffering poisoning symptoms on a Russian domestic flight last summer.

Massive protests took place last weekend in Russia to free Navalni. Protests took place in more than 100 cities across Russia and nearly 4,000 people were arrested.

The police did not specifically comment on the reasons for the seizure and search.

Navalni argued that the weekend protests in Moscow through social network service (SNS) confiscated and searched Navalni’s home and office for violating the quarantine rules. However, he pointed out that the reason for the actual seizure search was Putin’s fear.
