Russian diplomats residing in North Korea draw attention to the scene of returning home, reminiscent of’escape’.

On the 26th, the Russian Embassy in North Korea released photos of the eight employees and their families on their way home via Facebook.

However, the pictures show that they are returning home via the railroad that connects North Korea and Russia on a’rail bike’-style wagon train operated by turning pedals with their feet in the cold and cold.

The appearance of a lot of luggage on the cart seems to be’escape’ from North Korea.

The embassy explained that this is an happening caused by the prevention of novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). Since the outbreak of Corona 19, North Korea has been blocking external exchanges, especially human exchanges.

For this reason, all transportation means at the border with China and Russia have been suspended unless there are very special cases.

“They departed from Pyongyang and traveled about 34 hours by train and vehicle to arrive at Nasun, the border of North Hamgyong Province,” said the embassy.

“They met a colleague who was waiting at Hassan Station in Maritime Province and moved to Vladivostok Airport,” he added.

The embassy did not accurately explain the reasons for their return. However, it is believed that many diplomats and expatriates of international organizations in Pyongyang have left Pyongyang since Corona 19.

Earlier, Russian ambassador to North Korea, Alexander Machegora, said in an interview with his own media, Interfax, on the 8th, “Diplomats in North Korea and members of international organizations have been banned from traveling outside Pyongyang since January last year. After leaving North Korea, foreign embassies are virtually halting their activities.”
