KEPCO defeated Korean Air after a full-set match and laid the groundwork for a leap forward.
KEPCO won 3-2 (21-25 25-21 32-30 20-25 15-13) against Korean Air in the 4th round of the 2020-21 Dodram V-League Women’s Division held at the Suwon Gymnasium on the 31st.
KEPCO’s two consecutive victories reached 9-10 (28 points and 5th place). KEPCO, which added 2 points, narrowed the difference between 4th place Woori Card (10-9, 30 points) to 2 points.
Korean Air lost its chance to take the lead with a second straight victory. Korean Air was in second place with 13 wins and 6 losses (37 points).
KEPCO Russell led the team to victory with 34 points including four subaces. Park Cheol-woo added 20 points, including 4 blocking, and setter Hyeong-wool showed off his presence with 5 blocking.
In Korean Air, Lim Dong-hyuk scored 28 points and Jung Ji-seok scored 26 points. However, he struggled to block the opponent and gave the game.
KEPCO did not stop Lim Dong-hyuk in the first set and gave an atmosphere. However, in the 2nd set 21-21, he took the lead with Hwang Hwang-il’s opening and Shin Young-seok’s quick attack. Following that, Russell’s blocking and open attacks were successful, and the set score was 1-1.
KEPCO also won three sets. Korean Air gave the lead in a cluttered atmosphere, with coach Santili being sent off the set while protesting the decision.
The 3rd set with 7 deuces, KEPCO’s concentration was better. In 30-30, Jung Ji-seok’s back attack was out, followed by Park Chul-woo’s quick open score, and KEPCO beat it 2-1.
However, KEPCO could not finish the match in the fourth set. I struggled with the strong serve of Lim Dong-hyuk and Jung Ji-seok, and the match went to the 5th set.
KEPCO was dragged away in the early 5th year, but it caught up with Russell’s goal and the opponent’s fault. Afterwards, Russell’s open scoring in 11-11 and Park Cheol-woo’s blocking gave him victory and defeated Korean Air’s pursuit.
