It turned out that the Mercedes driver, who died while driving under the influence of alcohol in the Incheon North Port Tunnel, was running at 229 km/h at the time.

On the 8th, the first trial was held against driver A (44, male), who was convicted of driving under the aggravated punishment Act for certain crimes and drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act at the hearing of the Incheon District Court Criminal 21 exclusive (Judge Jung Woo-young).

Victim B’s mother pleaded for severe punishment, saying, “The perpetrator drove 229 km/h (car) to kill a person on the spot and killed the victim twice because there was no room for reflection.”

He added, “On January 20th, I filed a petition asking for severe punishment, and on the 3rd, I recorded the situation where the offender’s father lied and submitted it to the court,” he added. “I am suffering from nightmares and can’t sleep.”

Mr. A, who appeared in court, was bowing his head throughout the trial. Mr. A’s lawyer replied, “I don’t have much to argue,” and “I’ll agree somehow, but if you give me a month or so, I’ll tell you again.”

Mr. A drove a Mercedes car at a speed of 216 to 229 km per hour at the North Port Tunnel within the Incheon-Gimpo section (Incheon Gimpo Expressway) on the 2nd Ring Expressway in the Seoul Metropolitan Area on December 16, last year, at 9:10 pm. He is accused of killing the other driver, Mr. B.

Mr. B died because he couldn’t get out of the car that caught fire right after the collision, and at that time, Mr. A’s blood alcohol concentration was found to be 0.08%, which is the number of license cancellations.

The police applied the so-called’Yoon Chang-ho Act’ to Mr. A in consideration of the fact that he died while driving while drunk driving.
