At the CES (Consumer Exhibition) 2021, the world’s largest information technology (IT) and home appliance exhibition, which opened on the 11th (local time), there are clues that will give a glimpse into the appearance of the futuristic smartphone, the Rollable Smartphone. It is released and attracts attention.

In the press event video held online that day, LG Electronics revealed the appearance of the phone in the form of a pre-advertisement (teaching) through the scene where the characters in the video use a rollable phone to watch the event.

The smartphone, which looked like a normal smartphone lying horizontally in the video, suddenly expanded upward and transformed into a smartphone with a large display.

LG Electronics called it’LG Rollable’ without revealing the specific specifications or driving method of this product at all.

Chinese home appliance maker TCL also unveiled its rollable smartphone concept product through video at the CES press event on the day. The product unveiled on this day is that a smartphone the size of a folded Samsung Electronics foldable phone’Galaxy Z Flip’ is also expanded into a larger smartphone.

TCL did not disclose detailed specifications, but announced that it is a product with an AMOLED (AMLOED, active organic light-emitting diode) display, and that the screen expands from 6.7 inches to 7.8 inches when tapped with a finger.

TCL also unveiled a 17-inch printed AMOLED scrolling display, saying it is the first in the world. It is a display in the form of a display that is inserted like a thin film between two cylindrical columns and spreads from side to side like a scroll.

TCL announced that it will release some kind of foldable or rollable product this year without revealing the specific release schedule of these products.
