Government “Scheduled to supply 273,000 houses to young people by 2025”
Youth-specialized 77,000 households, etc. Quantity included in existing supply measures
The government released a press release and announced that it will supply a total of 273,000 units, including 76,000 specialized youth housing units, to the city center by 2025 for the youth.
However, these are all quantities included in the government’s supply measures, such as the 5·6 or 8·4 measures, so housing supply does not increase.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 31st that as the first basic plan for youth policy (2021-2025) was recently deliberated and decided by the Youth Policy Coordination Committee, the housing welfare policy included in the plan will be implemented in earnest from next year.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that by 2025, it will provide customized services for the youth and provide 76,000 units of’youth-specialized housing’ that combines housing, business and cultural facilities, and 273,000 houses to young people. .
The youth-specialized housing consists of 48,000 units of job-linked housing, 20,000 units of the station area remodeling type, and 8,000 units of dormitory type houses near the university.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport mainly supplies these houses to areas close to schools or workplaces, providing rent at 50-95% of the market price.
It plans to increase the quality of the house by adding built-in home appliances.
Along with this, it plans to support 30,000 people by 2025 by increasing various types of dormitories, such as united dormitories and happy dormitories, on the university campus.
It plans to reduce other burdens on lump-sum payment of dormitory fees by increasing the ratio of card payment and cash installment payment.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport will provide 400,000 youth households with low-interest rent loans by 2025, and support youth to build a home through the youth preferential subscription passbook.
When young people sign up for the jeonse money return guarantee, the burden of guarantee fees will be reduced, and the rental deposit loan for small and medium-sized youth will be improved so that they can be used even if they move.
Public rental housing is provided first to low-income youth households living under Gosiwon and Banji, and housing improvement is promoted by providing packages for deposits, moving expenses, and household equipment.
Considering the monthly average income of residents of Gosiwon (1.8 million won), the income standard will be reduced from 50% (13.2 million won) to 70% (1.85 million won) for urban workers.
Buy old gosiwons and semi-basement houses and rebuild or remodel them into youth houses to improve the residential environment.
In addition, the crackdown on illegal room splitting near universities and station areas will be greatly strengthened.
A separate supervisor for illegal buildings will be introduced, centering on the regional building safety center, and will actively impose corrective orders or compulsory payments.
The 76,000 youth-specific housing units are included in the housing welfare roadmap of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, various housing supply measures, and pre-family measures, and are not newly added.
Among the housing supply plans prepared by the existing measures, it is the level of reconfirming the target value for how much to secure for the youth.
