Eui-gyeom Kim succession procedure next week
On the 24th, the resignation procedure for Open Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Jin-ae, who declared that he would drop his position as a member of the National Assembly to run for the 4·7 Seoul mayor by-election, was ended on the 24th. Rep. Kim’s office will be succeeded by Kim Eui-gyeom, a former Blue House spokesman. The succession process is scheduled to take place next week.
Rep. Kim said in his new remark, “I am deeply sorry to the people for leaving after working for only 10 months,” and said, “Now, I will return to the citizen Kim Jinae and the citizen Kim Jinae to find all the roles I can play.” He said, “I hope that the 21st National Assembly will give the people hope of change with a realistic, successful and bold move.”
With the resignation of Congressman Kim, former spokesman Kim took over. Former spokesman Kim was unable to obtain a position as a member of parliament because he received the fourth proportional representative in the general election last year. At that time, the Open Democratic Party secured three seats for proportional representatives.
The procedure for succession to the legislative position is expected to be completed as soon as possible next week. According to the Public Official Election Act, if a proportional representative member of the National Assembly is vacated, the Central Election Commission must be notified and a successor must be decided within 10 days from that date. Successors will be determined according to the order in which they are listed on the list of candidates for proportional representation of their political party at the time of the election.
Former spokesman Kim is known to be succeeding as a standing member of the National Land Transport Commission, which was in charge of Congressman Kim. Amid allegations of speculation by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), pointed out whether it is appropriate for former spokesman Kim, who resigned as a spokesman for the Blue House due to real estate speculation, to be assigned to the National Territorial Commission.
Former spokesman Kim bought a shopping mall in Heukseok-dong, Seoul, scheduled for redevelopment in 2018, at the time of his tenure at the Blue House, for 2.57 billion won, and allegations of real estate speculation were withdrawn.
