Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 29th that Renault Samsung’s LPG vehicle QM6 LPe recorded 27811 units sold in 2020, making it the most sold LPG vehicle in Korea last year. From 2nd to 5th place are all LPG sedans, and this is the first time that SUVs have won the first place in the passenger LPG market, which has been a strong sedan so far.

Renault Samsung Motors explained, “Considering that the LPG sedans included in the top sales were mainly for corporate sales such as taxis, the meaning of the QM6 LPe as a’LPG passenger car purchased for the purpose of purchase’ was much greater for real consumers. did.

According to the Korea Automobile Industry Association (KAMA), the total number of sales in the domestic LPG passenger car market last year was 10,2862 units, accounting for 7.5% of the total passenger market (137,4523 units). In the passenger LPG market, Renault Samsung Motors sold a total of 31452 units of QM6 LPe and SM6 LPe, recording 31% market share, up 4% from the same period last year.

Renault Samsung Motors added, “It can be seen that customer demand for Renault Samsung car models in the entire passenger LPG market has increased since the launch of the QM6 LPe, the only LPG SUV in Korea (June 2019).”

The LPG SUV QM6 2.0 LPe adopts a third-generation LPLi (Liquid Petroleum Liquid Injection) engine that injects liquid LPG into each cylinder. The maximum output is 140 horsepower, and the maximum torque of 19.7kg·m comes out of a relatively low rotating platform (3700rpm) and exhibits the same level of perceived torque as GDe in the practical area. With one charge (based on 80% donut tank charge), it can drive up to 534km, so it can travel to Busan as of Seoul departure without additional charging.

QM6 LPe also has the effect of reducing fine dust. LPG is regarded as an eco-friendly energy that emits only 13% of nitrogen oxides, which is the biggest cause of fine dust. According to data from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, LPG’s nitrogen oxide emissions are 0.14g per kilometer, which is the lowest compared to diesel (1.055g) and gasoline (0.179g).

In November of last year, Renault Samsung Motors launched the new QM6, a style upgrade model that applies chrome radiator grille to’Quantum Wing’, a new design identity, and added’Premier’, a premium trim, to the LPe engine version. It reflects the customer’s demand to satisfy both economy and luxury.

As a result of the 2020 QM6 LPe sales, the most-selling trim was a total of 1258 units with the RE signature corresponding to the high-end. More than one out of every three QM6 LPe purchasers chose the RE signature. Renault Samsung Motors explained that the customer preference for these upper trims clearly shows that low prices are not the only criterion for LPG selection.

Renault Samsung Motors Sales Manager Kim Tae-joon said, “The only reason that the domestic LPG SUV QM6 LPe was able to become the No. 1 in the domestic LPG passenger car market in 2020 is all thanks to the smart customers’ choice.” It will become Renault Samsung Motors leading the domestic LPG market.”
