The union is fiddling with the strike card while the Renault Group is pressing the Renault Samsung Motors’ Busan plant to cut manufacturing costs.
On the 9th, the Renault-Samsung Motors union held an interim congressional conference with 50 members and a dispute countermeasure committee to discuss the direction of the future struggle.
On the 2nd, the union, which can legally strike after voting for and against the industrial action, expressed its position that it “strongly opposes the company’s hopeful retirement and the sale of TS maintenance in Ilsan,” but decided not to draw out a strike card immediately.
This is because, due to sluggish vehicle sales, only weekly production groups are being used instead of two shifts per day, and the union cannot press the company through strikes.
The union appealed for unity, saying, “The company is putting pressure on the Renault Group in a situation where the company has not prepared a proposal and is dragging time in relation to the collective bargaining,” and said, “The union members must join forces to overcome the crisis.”
The union said, “It is a plan to complete the negotiations through negotiations, but if the company does not make proposals and takes time, it will raise the level of the struggle.”
The union said, “The operating profit of Renault Samsung Motors over the past 7 years is 1.9 trillion won, and the money the Renault Group has taken as dividends is 900 billion won.” “I am working at the highest labor intensity and minimum wage compared to peers. “It is unacceptable to retire and restructuring.”
“European plant stopped operation due to Corona 19, but the workers in the Busan plant produced vehicles using masks,” he said. “It is irresponsible to hand over the management responsibility to the workers, although it is necessary to release new cars to increase competitiveness in the market.” Emphasized.
Meanwhile, Renault Vice Chairman Ross Mojos ordered the Busan Plant to achieve three goals: the best quality, reduction in production costs, and compliance with production deadlines for the XM3 to enter Europe.
He warned, “The factory manufacturing cost is twice that of the European factory, and transportation costs are added to it.” He warned, “The Busan factory must produce at the same manufacturing cost as the one made in Spain, and if this promise is not kept, it will find a new method.”
