Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol quickly rose to the top of the vote for the next presidential election in a poll. The poll took place on the 5th, right after Yoon announced his intention to resign from the post of president, saying, “We can’t wait to see the collapse of justice and common sense on the 4th.” Political critics diagnosed the result as a result of former President Yoon’s resistance to the’absolute power’ of the Moon Jae-in government and the ruling party. In addition, as he emerged as an icon of Ban-moon (Moon Jae-in), he predicted that the approval rate of former President Yoon will continue to rise as the approval rate of President Moon falls.

The Korea Institute for Social Opinion (KSOI), commissioned by TBS, surveyed 1,023 people aged 18 and over nationwide on the suitability of the next major runners, and as a result, Jeon Yoon ranked first with 32.4%. In a survey conducted by KSOI, this is the first time that former President Yun has been ranked first. Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung was 24.1%, and Democratic Party representative Lee Nak-yeon was 14.9%. Compared to the results of the previous survey (February 26-27), the approval rating of former President Yoon, who was second place, rose 14.5 percentage points, while the approval rating of Governor Lee, who was the first place, declined 4.3 percentage points. Lee, who placed third place, rose 0.9 percentage points.

Kim Hyung-jun, professor of the Faculty of Humanities and Liberal Arts at Myongji University, said, “Former President Yoon showed a strong message that he would stand up to the absolute power of President Moon and defend the spirit of the constitution and the rule of law. The approval rating may decline at the same time, but on the contrary, the approval rating of former President Yun will rise.” The opposition party fell in love. Kim Jong-in, chairman of the People’s Power Emergency Response Committee, met with reporters at the National Assembly on the 8th and emphasized, “I think that former President Yun seems to have caught the’star moment’.”
