The Jeonbuk Police Agency’s Special Investigation Unit for Real Estate Speculation Crimes announced on the 5th that it has applied for an arrest warrant for A, an employee of the Jeonbuk Headquarters of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), who is suspected of speculating real estate in the planned housing site development.
It also added that it applied for confiscation of the land before prosecution. Confiscation preservation is a court’s disposition that prevents a criminal suspect from arbitrarily disposing of illegally profitable property subject to confiscation before receiving a final judgment.
While working at LH’s Jeonbuk Headquarters, Mr. A is accused of violating the law on the establishment and operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission by speculating real estate in the name of his wife in a development area in Wanju, Jeonbuk using internal information in 2015.
It is reported that Mr. A was in charge of’Wanju Sambong public housing business license and design work’ at LH Jeonbuk Headquarters until recently.
On the 1st, the police called Mr. A and intensively investigated the process of acquiring real estate and whether or not it was unfairly profitable. At the time, Mr. A is known to have denied his allegations.
Earlier, the Jeonbuk Police Agency is speeding up the investigation, starting with a seizure and search at the Jeonbuk headquarters of LH on the 22nd of last month, and calling and investigating those involved in real estate speculation.
An official from the Jeonbuk Police Agency said, “I applied for an arrest warrant for LH employee A,” and said, “We cannot tell you the details because we are under investigation.”
