Manchester United (hereafter United) scored undefeated (7 wins and 2 draws) for 9 consecutive games in the English Premier League (EPL) with Marcus Rashford’s winning goal just before the end of the match.

Manchester United won 1-0 in the 16th round of the 2020-21 EPL against Wolverhampton at Old Trafford in Manchester, England on the 30th (Korean time).

Having continued an undefeated streak of 7 wins and 2 draws in recent 9 games, Manchester United ranked second in the league alone with 9 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses (30 points). The difference between the score and the lead Liverpool (9 wins, 5 draws, 1 loss and 32 points) is 2 points. Wolverhampton stayed in 12th place with 6 wins, 3 draws and 7 losses (21 points).

Manchester United, who unfortunately drew 2-2 with Leicester City on the 26th, showed strong willingness to win with Bruno Fernandes, Rashford, Edison Cavani, and Paul Pogba all starting out on the day.

Manchester United led the game by increasing their share of the ball, but the shots were often out of the goal and did not create a decisive scoring opportunity. On the contrary, Wolverhampton, who had a counterattack after the player’s defense, recorded more effective shots, threatening the defense of Manchester United.

In the second half of the game, United introduced Luke Shaw and Anthony Marshall to change the game, but the frustration did not change. Manchester United failed to score until the 45th minute of the second half, and seemed to end the game with 0-0.

However, in the extra time in the second half, the goal was scoring from Rashford’s toe. Rashford grabbed the ball that Fernandes had handed over from the rear, and attempted a shot with two opponents in front of him. Rashford’s shot was hit by the Wolverhampton defender and refracted to score the goal.

Manchester United won the 1st goal lead for the remaining extra time and finished second for the first time this season.

Arsenal, who suffered from a slump of draws (2 draws and 5 losses) in the last 7 games in a row, and came out with coach Mikel Arteta’s hard rumors, scored two consecutive wins.

Arsenal won 1-0 with Alexandre Lacazette’s winning goal in a match against Brighton and Hove Albion at Brighton’s Amax Stadium.

Arsenal, who scored 3 points in 2 consecutive games following Chelsea game (3-1 win) on the 27th, marked 13th with 6 wins, 2 draws and 8 losses (20 points). Brighton was in 17th place with 2 wins, 7 draws and 7 losses (13 points).
