On the afternoon of the 2nd, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will hold an expert meeting at the government building in Seoul to hear opinions on issues related to the Japanese military’comfort women’.

It’s been about a month since the controversy over John Mark Ramseyer, professor of law at Harvard University, who published a dissertation stating that “the Japanese military comfort women were not sex slaves forced into prostitution”.

The Ministry of Leisure and Affairs will hold a meeting and discuss issues such as Professor Ramsey’s distorted dissertation on the Japanese military’comfort women’ issue, as well as the direction of future commemorative projects related to the comfort women issue of the Japanese military.

At the meeting, academic experts such as Lim Ji-hyun, professor of history at Sogang University, Park Jeong-ae, a research fellow at the Japanese Army’Comfort Women’ Research Center of the Northeast Asian History Foundation, and attorney Kim Kang-won (Kim Kang-won Law Firm), lawyer Lee Sang-hee (directed by law firms) Attends.

Minister of Gender Equality and Family Jeong Young-ae said, “We are very sorry that there are attempts to distort the comfort women issue of the Japanese military and damage the honor and dignity of the victims.”

Minister Jung said, “Starting from the last visit to the House of Sharing, we will continue to communicate directly with the victims as well as experts related to comfort women in the Japanese military to actively respond to issues related to comfort women in the Japanese military.”
