Kiwoom Heroes’ key hitter Lee Jung-hoo (23) broke the record for the highest annual salary in the 5th year of the KBO League.
Kiwoom announced on the 11th that “We signed a contract with Lee Jeong-hoo for an annual salary of 550 million won.”
Lee Jung-hoo, who received an annual salary of 390 million won last year, surpassed the highest annual salary of Kim Ha-seong of 322 million won in the previous five years.
Lee Jung-hoo has already earned an annual salary of 230 million won in 2019 and 390 million won in 2020, and holds the highest annual salary records for the third and fourth years respectively. In addition, Lee Jung-hoo’s 550 million won is the same amount as Kim Ha-sung’s seven-year highest annual salary.
Lee Jung-hoo, who played in 140 games last season and recorded 544 at-bats, 181 hits, 15 homers, 85 points, 101 RBIs, and a batting average of 0.333, led the team at batting line and performed outstandingly. After the end of the season, he won the third outfielder Golden Gloves in his personal career.
Immediately after signing, Lee Jung-hoo said, “I thank the club for providing good conditions every year. I have a satisfactory contract, so I am concentrating only on sports. I feel a lot of responsibility as I have signed a high-priced contract. I will try hard until the end of this season so that I can do it,” he said.
He added, “Ha Sung-hyung is missing, but Kiwoom’s baseball must continue. I will try to fill the vacancy of Ha Sung-hyung from me. The goal for this season will remain unchanged. I will do my best to help the team win.” .
