Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 22nd (local time) criticized EU officials for claiming that Russia’s Corona 19 vaccine’Sputnik V’was not needed in Europe.

Earlier, European Commissioner Thierry Breton argued that there is no need for Sputnik V to be introduced by the EU, and that only vaccines produced in Europe can achieve regional population immunity.

According to Reuters, President Putin attended a public meeting on vaccines in Russia that day and pointed out that “(Breton’s executive committee member’s) remarks are strange.”

President Putin said, “I wonder whose interests he is advocating and representing, the interests of some pharmaceutical companies or European countries.”

The Russian Kremlin said today that President Putin discussed the possibility of using Sputnik V in the EU through a telephone conference with the standing chairman of the EU Summit, Charles Michel.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA), the EU pharmaceutical authority, began a full-scale review of Sputnik V’s clinical trial data from the beginning of this month. During next month, a delegation will be dispatched to Russia.

However, some in the EU are raising questions about whether Russian vaccines should be introduced.

Earlier this month, Chairman Michelle also criticized Russia’s way of promoting Sputnik V abroad, pointing out that “Russia has planned a limited but widely known operation to supply its own vaccines to other countries.”

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Russian media conducted a’information war’ that systematically criticized the Corona 19 vaccine developed by Western countries such as Pfizer to promote the domestic vaccine.

Meanwhile, President Putin said he will receive one of three vaccines developed within his country within the 23rd.
