Congressman Kim’s wife and brother-in-law purchased 1,112m2 of land in Jinjeop-eup, Namyang-si, for about 1.28 billion won in July last year. It is a part of the purchase of a total of 3540㎡ for a total of 4,399 million won by 5 people through the’split the stake’ method. Congressman Kim sold his home in Jongno-gu, Seoul in June of last year. A month later, the family bought the district’s land. One media reported suspicion that Congressman Kim was running for the general election and announced pledges such as promoting urban vitality projects near the land and relocating military units.
Rep. Kim said, “Wangsuk new town, one of the 3rd new towns, was confirmed in 2018, and my wife bought the land in 2020, and it is 10km away from the new town announcement site. Rep. Kim explained the source of the purchase funds, saying, “In response to the party’s policy to dispose of 2 houses, we took the lead in selling the house we had for 20 years, and the remaining funds after the return of jeon tax, etc.” He said, “Because the standing committee is a Political Affairs Committee, we cannot hold a single stock. He added that his wife purchased land for distribution warehouses at the recommendation of an acquaintance of the party member. He said, “It is not a good thing for a public official to buy real estate for any reason,” he added, adding, “I will follow the party’s disposition,” he said.
