Public sentiment cannot be corrected by the disposition of multi-households.

Personnel Innovation Office officials are reviewing the contents of regular property change reports of 1,885 public officials subject to property disclosure disclosed through the official gazette at the Sejong City Government Complex on the 24th. yunhap news

It was found that about half of high-ranking government officials owned land among their assets. According to the regular property changes in 2021, released by the High-ranking Government Officials Ethics Committee through the official gazette on the 25th, of the 759 government officials of the central government, 388 (51.1%) reported that they had land. There were 95 land holders in the metropolitan area, and 17 people in the area including the 3rd new town.

It is not possible to immediately suspect this as real estate speculation because land is owned for a number of reasons, such as being sold or inherited a long time ago. However, while avoiding the stinging gaze toward multi-household officials, it is unquestionable whether or not they own the land for development profit. These days, in order to avoid various regulations and heavy taxation on multi-homed people, in the case of suburbs, it is said that there are cases where existing buildings are removed and only soil is left, leaving a bitter aftertaste. In the case of Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Han-jeong, it was revealed that he purchased land in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do under his wife’s name a month after selling a house in Jongno-gu, Seoul last year in accordance with the Democratic Party’s policy to dispose of multiple houses. Although it has nothing to do with speculation in the 3rd new town, it has revealed an obsession with real estate ownership while avoiding accusations against multi-homed people.

According to the government’s recommendation to dispose of multiple houses last year, high-ranking officials were found to have disposed of houses in large numbers. At the Blue House, 13 people sold their homes, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also sold eight people last year to become one home. However, among the heads of agencies affiliated with the ministry, there are still a number of multi-homed people.

The government has issued a recommendation to dispose of multi-households in order to rectify the public sentiment of real estate, but the real estate market cannot be stabilized if some public officials sell their houses. There are no citizens who believe that one-house officials are exemplary in integrity. It is no longer possible to calm the anger of public sentiment with a show-style performance. We must not forget that what the people want to see is a practical measure to eradicate real estate speculation and stabilize the market.
