An employee of a public health center, who was put into collecting samples from a nursing home for the elderly in Busan, was confirmed with Corona 19, and the quarantine authorities took an emergency.
The city of Busan said that 28 new confirmed cases were added as of 1 pm, and the cumulative number of patients was 2073.
Among the new confirmed cases, staff at Yeongdo-gu Public Health Center were included. This employee was assigned to collect samples at the Bluesae Senior Citizens Health Center in Yeongdo-gu, where the group infection occurred on December 31st and 2nd last year. After that, I felt sick and took sick leave for two days, but the abnormal symptoms continued, and after two tests, I was confirmed on that day.
The quarantine authorities are looking for the possibility that the employee was infected during the sample collection process. This is because there are many elderly patients suffering from dementia and stroke, and there is a possibility that inevitable physical contact occurred during the sample collection process. 23 people who have come into contact with this employee are now quarantined. The quarantine authorities are setting up measures to fill the gaps in human resources at health centers.
One additional patient was infected at the Cheil Nara Nursing Hospital as well, resulting in a cumulative number of 60 cases. Four people who received diagnostic tests at laboratories and clinics because of suspicious symptoms were also tested positive and are investigating the route of infection. Most of the remaining new confirmed cases were contact between family members, acquaintances, and colleagues at work.
As a confirmed person in their 80s died on the afternoon of the 3rd, the cumulative death toll in Busan also increased to 64. Of these, 50 people died related to nursing hospitals. Reporter Baeksang Kim k103@busan.
