On the 19th, a mother accused of murdering her 3-year-old daughter in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province was sent to the prosecution.
On that day, the Gumi Police Department in Gyeongsangbuk-do sent Mr. A (22) to the Daegu District Prosecutor’s Office as a prosecution opinion on four charges including murder and violations of the Child Welfare (child neglect), Child Allowance Act, and Infant Welfare Act. Mr. A is scheduled to be handed over to the Daegu District Prosecutor’s Office at around 1 PM on this day.

Mr. A, who previously lived in a villa in Sangmosagok-dong, Gumi City, is charged with leaving his living daughter at home in early August of last year and starving her daughter. At the same time, until recently, the local government paid 200,000 won for child-rearing and child allowances. Considering the time the police estimated the death of his daughter, Mr. A improperly received at least 1.2 million won for six months.

The child who died was discovered by his mother’s father, namely A’s father, who lives on the lower floor of Mr. A’s villa in Gumi City around 3 p.m. A’s father, who visited his daughter’s house after receiving a call from the landlord asking him to leave the house due to the expiration of the contract, found and reported the body of the child who had been neglected alone. The body was in a state of decay that was difficult to recognize. At the time of discovery, the house was not heated and the surrounding area was full of garbage.

Mr. A stated that “I didn’t want to see him as my ex-husband child,” as to why the police left the child. He also said, “It has been a long time since I lost contact with my father, and it was very difficult financially in the process of raising a child.”
