Promote’Blue Valley Hydrogen Fuel Cell Power Generation Project’ by 2023 in Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and invest 100 billion won

[오늘경제 = 김수란 기자] On the 20th, Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, in the city hall of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., Yeongnam Energy Service Co., Ltd., Pohang Technopark, etc. There was an agreement ceremony for promotion

Through the agreement ceremony on this day, Gyeongbuk Province and Pohang City promised administrative support such as licensing and licensing of fuel cell power generation projects and cooperation among residents, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power plans to secure maintenance and repair technology in the fuel cell field by constructing and direct operation of power plants.

In addition, Yeongnam Energy Service is responsible for supplying city gas to fuel cell power plants and carrying out regional win-win cooperation projects, while Pohang Techno Park is responsible for securing fuel cell maintenance and repair technology and supporting manpower and equipment for manpower training.
The hydrogen fuel cell industry is emerging as a key industry in the future as it can supply power more stably than solar and wind power generation, and it has a large economic ripple effect over 10,000 partner parts makers, and is expected to grow at an annual average of 20% or more. Accordingly, Pohang City has selected the hydrogen industry as one of the three core strategies along with the battery and bio-healthcare sectors and is striving to foster it.

In particular, the’Pohang Blue Valley Hydrogen Fuel Cell Power Generation Project’ invested about KRW 100 billion in a total area of 9,917㎡ (about 3,000 pyeong) and a power generation capacity of 20MW (using 46,000 households per year) in three years until 2023. The construction and operation of marine fuel cell power plants, and securing fuel cell maintenance and repair technology are of great significance in being the first hydrogen fuel cell business in Korea to participate in Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.

Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “Based on the capabilities of the organizations that have signed the agreement and the excellent R&D infrastructure in the region, we will foster the hydrogen fuel cell industry as a new industry of the future, and must pass the preliminary feasibility study of the ongoing’Hydrogen Fuel Cell Generation Cluster Creation’. I will concentrate my administrative power so that it can be done.”
