The US court banned the sale of the so-called “Satan Shoes,” which were customized by putting a drop of real human blood on the famous sports brand Nike sneakers.

On the 2nd (local time), according to Reuters, Nike filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the design studio’MSCHF’, and a judge in the federal court of Brooklyn, New York, Eric Comety, said that it was “infringing on the trademark right” and responded to the application for a ban on sale. I made a citation decision.

Earlier, MSCHF announced that it will sell customized shoes with Nike’s Air Max 97 sneakers in collaboration with rapper’Lil Nas X’.

These shoes are decorated with inverted pentagonal stars that symbolize the devil in the Western world. In addition, it is known that the sole of the shoe contains a drop of real human blood along with ink. The foreign media reported that the blood used in the production belonged to an employee of MSCHF. It is said that only 666 pairs of the shoes were made for 1018 dollars (about 1,153,300 won).

Nike made a statement saying “it has nothing to do with us,” but the controversy continued, leading to a lawsuit. In court, the MSCHF lawyer claimed that the shoes were’artwork’ rather than simple sneakers, and that “except one pair has already been sold and shipped,” CNN reported.

In the first place, the person who would receive the last pair was planned to be selected by Lil Nas-X, but it was put on hold due to a court decision. In a statement, MSCHF said, “The company strongly believes in freedom of expression,” and “we hope to resolve this issue quickly with Nike and the courts.”
