Prof. Joon-Yup Lee selected as a Novartis Innovation Research Support Program

Seoul Asan Hospital Ophthalmology Professor Jun-Yeop Lee was selected for the’Global Scholars Program’ conducted by Novartis and received a total of $1 million in research funding (approximately KRW 1.1 billion) for three years.

Novartis Korea announced on the 10th that it has recently announced that it has selected and recently announced excellent medical researchers from around the world who are funded by the’NIBR Global Scholars Program’ at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR).

The’Global Innovation Research Support Program’, launched last year, is the first project at NIBR, and is a global research project that provides funding so that researchers around the world with innovative ideas for the development and commercialization of new drugs can exert influence.

This’Global Innovation Research Support Program’ selected 6 medical researchers out of 700 applicants from 38 excellent research institutes in 9 countries around the world, and Professor Jun-Yup Lee of Ophthalmology at Seoul Asan Hospital was selected from among them.

Through this program, Professor Jun-Yup Lee will receive a total of $1 million (approximately KRW 1.1 billion) in research funding over the next three years to conduct research on the development of a new drug for macular degeneration, which has not yet been cured.

In addition, the selected researchers can be provided with specialized knowledge on specific research areas of the project through partnerships with experts from NIBR.
