The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 19th that Poonglim Pharmatech has established a smart factory mass-production system capable of producing more than 10 million syringes for Corona 19 vaccines applied with LDS technology.
With a regular syringe, you can inject up to 5 doses per bottle of Corona 19 vaccine, but with a Poonglim Pharmatech syringe, you can inject more than 6 times per bottle.
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance said, “The Poonglim Pharmatech syringe has the effect of significantly reducing the loss of the remaining amount of injections and, if using this syringe, increases the production of the Corona 19 vaccine by an additional 20%.” It is possible to inject them,” he explained.
Poonglim Pharmatech’s vaccine syringe was approved for use in Korea from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on the 15th, and the safety guard and needle that must be equipped to prevent the spread of infection during the injection process.
The day before, he submitted a request for urgent use of syringes to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Approval is expected to be decided by the end of this month.
Poonglim Pharmatech’s syringe has passed the performance test for the minimum injection amount of a US pharmaceutical company, and has also met performance requirements.
Accordingly, domestic technology patents and design patents have been applied, and international patent applications are in progress in the US and the European Union.
In order to build the production system of Poonglim Pharmatech this time, Samsung Electronics has invested 30 experts in its company to support it.
Samsung Electronics is supporting the establishment of a win-win smart factory for small and medium-sized businesses with the Ministry of Medium and Medium Business. After supporting this time, Samsung Electronics completed the production line of the smart factory, from prototype production to mass production facility construction within a month.
Poonglim Pharmatech was able to complete the production of prototype molds and prototypes through Samsung Electronics’ Gumi-Gwangju partner factories within 4 days of the holiday season.
Samsung Electronics has provided support for mass production of more than 10 million units per month, 2.5 times larger than Poonglim Pharmatech’s own production plan (4 million units per month), through support for the production of automatic syringe assembly facilities, the Ministry of the Small and Medium Business explained.
Mid-term Minister Park Young-sun explained, “It is a representative success model of public-private cooperation that is actively sponsored by the government by combining the excellent technology of Korean SMEs with the smart manufacturing know-how of large companies and global network capabilities.”
In addition to Poonglim Pharmatech, the Ministry of SMEs is also promoting the supply of win-win smart factories to 6-7 syringe manufacturers, including Korea Vaccine Co., Ltd. and Sungsim Medical Co., Ltd.
In addition to syringes, the Ministry of Medium and Medium Enterprises has supplied smart factories to 20 companies in the fields of masks (10), diagnostic kits (5), hand sanitizers (3), and safety glasses (2) related to Corona 19 so far.
