Active professional baseball players and retired players were suspicious of purchasing illegally banned drugs. CBS Radio’s’Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’ on the 11th said, “Former professional baseball player Lee Yeo-sang sold a banned drug to active professional baseball players A and B for 16 million won in 2017. The Korea Anti-Doping Committee (KADA) We are investigating this matter under suspicion,” he reported.

Among the players suspected of purchasing banned drugs, A is a registered player in the KBO League this season. B is retired and working as an amateur leader In this program and interview, the two claimed, “I heard it was a stem cell drug, but I knew it was a banned drug, and I returned it the next day,” and “I thought it was a stem cell-based nutrient and got it.”

Yeo-sang Lee has a history of causing scandals related to drugs in the past. He was charged with injecting and selling banned drugs (violation of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act) for receiving money from youth players in his baseball classroom, and was sentenced to 10 months in prison in December 2019. In January of last year, KADA imposed a six-year suspension of qualifications for athletes and leaders.

If the transaction between Yeo-Sang Lee and Players A and B is confirmed, professional baseball will face a major bad news ahead of the season opening. A KBO official said, “We haven’t heard anything officially about active player A. However, it is true that KADA notified late last year regarding the allegations of retired player B’s purchase of banned drugs.”

The official said, “I know that the KADA Sanctions Committee submitted a notice to the KBO on the 9th, and Player B, who is a party, also received the same notice. It is the appeal period for Player B until the end of this month. It is difficult. If Player B attempts to return to professional baseball as a leader in the future, KBO can decide whether or not to discipline and the level of discipline. It is reported that B is preparing to appeal to KADA by appointing a legal representative.
