When a bill to revoke the license of a doctor who committed violent crimes such as robbery, murder, and sexual violence was passed by the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee, the Korean Medical Association suggested a’vaccination boycott’ and controversy is intensifying. Citizens criticized the medical council’s response as “a sense of privilege” and pointed out that it was not appropriate in time.

According to the National Assembly on the 22nd, on the 19th, the Health and Welfare Committee decided on a bill to amend some of the medical law as an alternative to the committee, which contains the reinforcement of license requirements for medical personnel like other professional occupations such as lawyers and certified accountants.

The bill contained the content of deprivation of a doctor’s license even when a medical person was sentenced to imprisonment or higher for violating laws other than the medical law, such as violent crime, in addition to the case where a medical person was sentenced to imprisonment or higher for violating the existing medical law. However, taking into account the specificity of the medical practice, the case of committing an occupational malpractice death crime is excluded.

Then, the chairman of the 16 provincial and provincial medical associations, including the president of the Medical Association, made a statement and said, “If the amendment to the medical law is resolved by the Legislative Judicial Committee of the National Assembly, the front line in overcoming the national crisis, such as diagnosing and treating new coronavirus infections (Corona 19), and supporting vaccination cooperation. It is clear that it will cause a great obstacle to responding to the corona by causing extreme antipathy to the 130,000 members of the Medical Association, which protects the health and lives of the people.”

In addition, Chairman Choi said on his Facebook page, “The evil law to kill doctors started as a retaliatory law for the struggle in August 2020,” and “Corona treatment, vaccination, and without any conditions, the cost of cooperating and supporting the government only for the people is the People and Democrats have returned to the Democratic Party’s retaliation law to kill doctors.”

In the political world, the voices of criticism have been raised against these claims made by the medical world. Democratic Party lawmaker Woo Won-sik criticized Facebook on the 20th as “the worst collective egoism that took the lead in taking care of my family as a hostage,” and Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Seong-ju said, “The chairman of the medical association prevented the law that the National Assembly handled according to democratic procedures. I want to ask if I’m sane because I’m threatening by refusing to participate in the vaccination.”

Citizens can’t hide their anxiety over the claims made by the medical profession, but the position is that they should not allow their claims this time. Earlier, the medical community carried out a general strike against the government’s expansion of medical school quotas and the establishment of public medical schools even in August-September last year, when the coronavirus situation was not good.

Lee Mo, 29, from Gyeonggi-do, said, “It’s time for doctors to reconsider work ethics,” and criticized “It’s time for doctors to reconsider work ethics,” and “If the plague circulates in the past, the lawmakers came out and treated them, but I don’t know what kind of selfishness this is, so I don’t know what the narrow words are.” He emphasized, “Since I’ve been hard at work, now is the time to serve.”

Lee Mo (62) from Chungnam Province said, “There will be no patient who wants to be treated by a doctor who has committed a violent crime.”

There was also a response that it was a problem that created a conflict with the medical community in a sensitive period due to the Corona 19 incident. Park Mo, a 31-year-old citizen of Seoul, said, “No matter how good it is, there are many cases where the meaning cannot be conveyed properly,” he said. “Although the opinion of the medical council is selfish, a bill that could have been promoted after the corona was stabilized.” .

There were also many reactions online criticizing the medical association. ID ses**** said, “I’ll see the groups of’uiregi’,” and accused him of “how rotten and rubbed”. ID scen**** urged, “The government hopes to protect the lives and safety of people from individual selfishness by increasing the size of local health centers and public hospitals with this opportunity.”

ID coco**** said, “It is absurd to have a sense of privilege that you should be exempted even if you commit a crime.”

There was also a position to defend the argument of the medical association. ID leey**** said, “Isn’t it an amateur or other political purpose to revise medical law during the coronavirus?” ID scho**** said, “Isn’t the intention of such a law more disrespectful in this situation with vaccination in front?”, and ID rlft*** said, “If you expect a conflict with your doctor, do it after corona.”
