Prime Minister Jeong Se-gyun visits Hyundai Motor Group’s Namyang Research Center to test drive Ioniq 5

Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun visited the Namyang Research Center of Hyundai Motor Group.

On the 18th, Prime Minister Chung visited Hyundai Motor Group’s Namyang Research Center located in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and held the ‘122th National Pending Inspection and Coordination Meeting’. The event was attended by Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Eui-sun Eui, LG Energy Solution CEO Jong-Hyun Kim, Hyundai Glovis CEO Jeong-Hoon Kim, KST Mobility CEO Haeng-ryul Lee, as well as the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Minister of Environment and other public and private officials.

First, Prime Minister Chung held a business agreement signing ceremony for the electric taxi battery rental demonstration project. This project was promoted to reduce the initial burden of electric vehicle consumers by half by lending batteries and to establish a virtuous cycle structure in which batteries are recycled as energy storage devices after use. This project involves the participation of automakers and battery manufacturers and service companies. It demonstrates the economy and safety of reuse.

This demonstration is a project undertaken by the government’s regulatory sandbox approval. The Ministry of Industry held the 4th Industrial Convergence Regulation Special Case Deliberation Committee on October 19 last year, and deliberated and decided on agenda items such as’battery utilization business after using electric vehicles.

Prime Minister Jeong Se-gyun said, “The battery rental business is to complete the eco-friendly electric vehicle ecosystem from the perspective of the entire life cycle of the vehicle, and its meaning is very large.” · He asked for follow-up measures such as preparing safety standards.”

Following the business agreement signing ceremony, Prime Minister Chung watched eco-friendly car products and new technologies, including core parts of electric vehicles, and directly test-drive Ioniq 5 to which Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicle platform E-GMP was applied for the first time at the Namyang Research Center.

In the afternoon, it is reported that they listened to the difficulties of the industry by having a separate luncheon with Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun, Chairman Man-ki Chung of the Korea Automobile Industry Association, and Won-seok Oh, Chairman of the Automobile Parts Foundation.
