President Moon Jae-in interviews US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin of the US administration on the 18th.
According to the Blue House spokesman Kang Min-seok on the 17th, President Moon plans to hold a joint interview at the Blue House at 3 pm on the 18th, the second day of his visit to Korea by Secretary of State Blincoln and Defense Minister Austin.
This is the first time President Moon has met a senior member of the US administration, Joe Biden, who was launched on January 20 (local time).
At this meeting, President Moon received reports of major achievements in his visit to Korea, including the results of the’Korea-US 2+2 (Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense) meeting’ held in the morning of the day in 5 years, and congratulates the two ministers for their hard work for the development of the alliance Is expected.
The’Korea-U.S. 2+2 Conference’ has been held in Washington in October 2016 for five years, and is held for the first time since the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in administration.
The head of the National Security Office, Seo Hoon, also plans to meet with Ministers Blincoln and Austin on the same afternoon before and after the joint interview with President Moon, and exchange opinions on the ROK-US alliance, issues on the Korean Peninsula, and regional and global issues.
It is noteworthy that President Moon meets Blincoln-Austin at the time the Biden administration is setting up its North Korea policy.
Earlier, in his first call with President Biden on the 4th of last month, President Moon shared the recognition that he would jointly work for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and settle peace and prepare a comprehensive strategy against North Korea as soon as possible.
Ministers Blincoln and Austin will meet with Foreign Minister Eui-yong Jeong and Defense Minister Seo-wook on the morning of the 18th to hold a 2+2 meeting before President Moon’s prevention.
