On the 21st, President Moon Jae-in approved the appointment of Kim Jin-wook as head of the High-ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Department (Airborne Department).
President Moon said in a text message sent by Blue House spokesman Kang Min-seok to reporters that he approved the appointment of the Minister of Public Service Kim Jin-wook at 9:10 am.
The National Assembly Legislative Judicial Committee held a plenary meeting the day before and approved the’Adoption of the Personnel Hearing Progress Report for Senior Criminal Investigation Officer Candidate (Kim Jin-wook).
President Moon confers a letter of appointment to Kim Jin-wook, the head of airlift at the main building of the Blue House at 11 am on this day. The term of office is three years from this day.
After receiving the letter of appointment, Director Kim will move to the Gwacheon Government Complex where the office of the Ministry of Public Transport is located and attend the inauguration ceremony at 3:30 pm followed by the unveiling of the signboard. Afterwards, Deputy Minister Kim is expected to accelerate preparations for the full-scale operation of the airlift, including the appointment of deputy chief of the airlift.
The Ministry of Airborne is an independent agency that focuses on investigating and prosecuting corruption of high-ranking officials and their families.
Investigation targets include the President, members of the National Assembly, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court Justice, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, and the Constitutional Judge, level 3 or higher public officials, judges and prosecutors, the Prosecutor General, and police officers or higher.
Among them, the Chief Justice, the Supreme Court Justice, the Prosecutor General, the judge, the prosecutor, the police officer or higher can be directly prosecuted by the airlift and maintained the prosecution, so the prosecution can be checked.
