In relation to Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s return to work, who was sentenced to’two months of honesty’ according to the court’s decision the previous day (24th), President Moon Jae-in said, “I apologize for causing inconvenience and confusion to the people.”
On the afternoon of the 25th, President Moon said, “I respect the court’s decision,” and said, “As a personnel authority, I apologize for causing discomfort and confusion to the people,” said Kang Min-seok, a spokesman for the Blue House.
Earlier on the 7th, at a meeting of chief and advisors, “I am very sorry as the president because the confused political government is causing concern to the people when we need to gather our hearts on quarantine and people’s livelihood.” I apologized for the surrounding confrontation. However, President Moon emphasized, “I hope that it will serve as an opportunity for the prosecution to reflect on the exercise of the right and restrained prosecutors, keeping in mind the judgment of the court.”
President Moon ordered, “In particular, I hope there will be no more controversy over collecting or inspecting personal information other than criminal information.” This is a passage that focuses on the’Judge’s propensity analysis document’ included in the reasons for disciplinary action by President Yoon Suk-yeol.
The Seoul Administrative Court, which cited President Yoon Seok-yeol’s suspension of office execution the day before, also evaluated it as “very inappropriate” and said, “Additional explanatory data is needed.”
President Moon urged, “The Ministry of Justice and the prosecutors will have to carry out follow-up measures such as reform of the prosecution and the reform of the right to investigate without a hitch through stable cooperation.”
The previous day at 10 p.m., the Seoul Administrative Court accepted the request for suspension of duty execution, which President Yoon Seok-yeol filed in objection to the’two months of honesty’ disposition of the Ministry of Justice. Accordingly, President Yoon returned to work at 12:10 p.m. on the 25th. On the 16th, it has been 8 days since President Moon approved the’two-month disposition of honesty’ by the Ministry of Justice.
Immediately after the court’s decision, Yoon said, “I deeply appreciate the judgment of the judiciary,” and “I will do my best to uphold the constitutional spirit, rule of law and common sense.”
On the 16th, the Ministry of Justice’s disciplinary committee decided to dispose of’two months of honesty’ with Yun on the grounds of suspicion of a judge’s inspection, interfering with the investigation and inspection of the Channel A case, and damage to political neutrality.
