Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang said at the closing press conference on the 11th that “there is a possibility of cooperation between the two countries in many areas.” Prime Minister Lee said, “I am confident of growing more than 6% this year,” and optimistic that “we will be able to grow somewhat more in the process of economic operation”. It seems that this year’s economic growth target is the Maginot line.
Regarding the controversial reform of the Hong Kong election law, he justified the reform of the electoral system that excludes democratic camps that were passed on that day, saying, “The’patriotic rule of Hong Kong’ is to complete the existing one-country system (one country, two systems).”
On this day, China ended both meetings for the last eight days after passing a plan to reform the Hong Kong electoral system of the NPC. It is expected that the’Chinaization of Hong Kong’ will be inevitable with the Hong Kong Security Law, which was resolved last year at the NPC and this reorganization.
The NPC also approved the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), which aims to achieve technological independence, and a long-term development strategy plan for 2035. Through this, China plans to increase its R&D budget this year by 10.6% from last year and by more than 7% annually afterwards to develop advanced technologies.
