The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (middle script) upgraded the emergency response stage to the second stage from 9 pm in relation to the heavy snowfall that fell in the Yeongdong area of ​​Gangwon-do on the 1st.

The first stage of emergency response was started from noon on this day, but the level of response was raised as severe traffic congestion continued on highways in the Gangwon region due to heavy snowfall.

In addition, in order to relieve traffic congestion on highways caused by heavy snow, emergency personnel from nearby military units were provided to support vehicle towing.

Minister of Public Administration and Safety Jeon Jeon-cheol, head of the company headquarters, said, “Because there is congestion on highways in the province due to heavy snowfall in the Gangwon region, the relevant agencies use the available resources to the fullest to take prompt action against congested vehicles on the highway and make all efforts to do snow removal work.” Ordered.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun urgently instructed related agencies to take necessary measures promptly by mobilizing all available resources.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Chung told the Minister of Public Administration and Security, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Minister of National Defense on the afternoon of that day, “Resolving road congestion in areas with heavy snow, such as the Yeongdong area of ​​Gangwon, and mobilizing all available resources for the safety of the people in the vehicle. Take action quickly,” he ordered.

Prime Minister Jung also said, “Minister of Public Safety and Security, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, take measures to prevent personal injury to facilities that are likely to collapse, such as green houses, taking into account the characteristics of this snow (wet snow that retains moisture).” .
